CENTER OF ADAPTATION AND RESILIENCE
TRNAVA
On an area of 250 m2, we are building an educational center for architects, designers, the public and public administration with an interest in the adaptation of buildings, urban communities and society to irreversible climate changes.
LIST OF EXPERTS FOR ADAPTATION AND RESILIENCE
We are creating a list of experts who are proficient in issues of adaptation to climate change and building resilience. In this way, we help builders make the right decisions in their projects.

Dear colleagues,
IAACC is building the first Slovak educational center for adaptation and resilience. The goal of our efforts is to connect ideas, products and personalities who are not indifferent to this topic.
Professionals from various fields, architects, technology producers or public administration representatives are aware of the seriousness of the need to create buildings, streets and cities resistant to climate change. We cannot motivate the lay public unless the professional community sends a clear opinion that this is a real issue that requires solutions.
By creating a community of experts proficient in the topics of building resilience, we help raise awareness among the general public about the need to adapt buildings, communities and settlements to climate change.

"Climate change represents an existential risk for civilization on a global scale, but we are already feeling it individually on our own skin. However, I have the impression that even in our community of architects, we still do not take this topic seriously enough, which is why I support the idea of an educational Center for Adaptation and Resilience. Environmental technologies have become a necessity. However, they are much more complex than the previous, traditional ones. Education in this area is therefore very important and I am glad that the ADAPTUJ.SK Adaptation and Resilience Center was created.

PROLOGUE
doc. Ing.arch. Andrea Bacová, PhD.
Head of the Institute of Architecture of Residential Buildings, Faculty of Architecture, STU, Bratislava
editor-in-chief of the PROJEKT review of Slovak architecture
February 2024
"The Institute for Architecture Adapted to Climate Change is a platform that shapes not only attitudes, but also tools that respond to climate change. Their influence is more and more affecting our daily life, lifestyle. We ask whether it is sustainable to constantly increase production, performance or mobility. We ask whether a quality life is still sustainable for the 8 billion people on this planet, whether it will be sustainable for the next billion that will be added in 20-25 years?
Climate change has long since been raised, the statistics are dire, and the Earth's temperature cannot be controlled by a thermostat. However, it is possible to change our thinking and behavior. I consider architecture adapted to climate change to be the correct and even necessary way of contemporary architectural creation. It is related to the formulation of the basic starting criteria for innovative concepts, so that we arrive in a reasonable way not only to save resources, energy, materials, water, space, but also to save our own time.
Architecture formulated in this way takes on new important meanings, can visualize the established requirements and thus plays a significant role in reducing the impacts of climate change. This path is not at all simple or unambiguous. It needs a wider discussion, it requires interest and determination to leave the usual schemes and choose this direction. And that's what we're all about!"
